Syed Hossain has been making waves at Vend as the Head of Strategy & Operations. In our latest On the Spot feature, Syed shares his motivations, experiences, and some personal tidbits.

Q: Syed, what inspired you to join Vend?

‍

A: The parking industry felt outdated to me, and I saw Vend disrupting this space with a stellar product and team. I was eager to be a part of that transformative journey.

‍

Q: Can you share what aspects of working at Vend you find most fulfilling?

‍

A: What I love most is that we're making real, tangible improvements to a traditionally stagnant industry. It's rewarding to see our efforts come to fruition. I get to go onsite with our clients often, so actually seeing the technology work in real life, and hearing live feedback from customers and their tenants and guests makes the work very fulfilling.

Q: There’s an interesting fact about you involving an invention. Could you tell us more?

‍

A: Yes, I hold a patent for a small ophthalmic drug delivery device that I invented with my younger brother. We brainstormed it when I was fresh out of college and he was still in high school. It's one of my proudest achievements.

Q: What project at Vend has been particularly fascinating for you?

‍

A: Developing a monthly parking billing system from the ground up was incredibly engaging. It allowed me to deeply understand financial operations, adding a rich layer to my experience here.

‍

Q: If you could choose any superpower, which one would it be and why?

‍

A: Teleportation, without a doubt. I love traveling and exploring new places, so being able to teleport would be a dream come true.

Q: Syed, what's the last piece of media that caught your attention?

‍

A: The last song I listened to was '5AM in Paris' by Saint Levant. I also just finished watching 'Chernobyl,' and I’m currently reading 'Siddhartha' by Hermann Hesse, which came highly recommended by a close friend.

‍

Q: And what’s one adventure you’re hoping to embark on soon?

‍

A: I'm looking to go skydiving soon. It’s been on my bucket list for a while, and I'm hoping this year I can finally make it happen.
